Within the digital system of code and assets this piece depicts an ‘out of bounds’ glitch. This glitch allows video game characters to go beyond the intended boundaries of gameplay and breaks the immersion of the digital world. In this forbidden space one often finds incomplete structures, odd textures, and more. The characters featured in this image are experiencing this glitch and thus are able to see their digital reality for what it really is.
This is also paralleled by any real-world experience where one is able to see past the norms of society and into the expanded possibilities that exist beyond it.
